Dr Jason Paul Mika is Tūhoe, Ngāti Awa, Whakatōhea and Ngāti Kahungunu, was born in Whakatāne and raised in Rotorua. Dr Mika is a senior lecturer at Massey University’s School of Management in Palmerston North and co-director of Te Au Rangahau, the Māori Business & Leadership Research Centre. Dr Mika’s research focuses on Indigenous entrepreneurship, management and research methods.
Dr Mika was previously a management consultant and policy analyst specialising in Māori economic development. Dr Mika’s approach to research, teaching and advice fuses Māori philosophy, Māori public policy and Māori entrepreneurship that is both critical and pragmatic.
Dr Mika has experience in developing regional Māori economic development strategies, policies and projects, as well as designing enterprise assistance policies and programmes for Indigenous entrepreneurs, innovators and enterprises..
